Solo and Ensemble results

We have a lot to be proud of in the Prowler Band program. We attended our region's Solo and Ensemble contest in Bemidji and did quite well. Of course, I want bigger and better next year, but we will get there.

Our Jazz Band, who has not competed at this competition for the last few years received an Excellent rating. They played well as individuals and their talent just shows in everything they do.

We had one soloist perform a Trombone solo and received a Superior rating. He worked very hard and deserved as much.

My goal for next year is to have 5 soloists in addition to the Jazz Band. I would like to continue to work for a Superior for Jazz, and would like each soloist to achieve at least an Excellent rating. How will we accomplish this? We do everything we can to get the kids excited about this! How cool is it that we have an opportunity to show other schools and other band directors (judges are typically either college professors or retired band directors) what we can do?

Let's do this!

These were indeed a little addicting. If I had more time to really look, I'm sure I could find ones that I would use. As it is, I added "Ani-weather," "Reminder Fox," "Coloured Tabs," and "Speed Dial."

When I tried to screencast using screen jelly, it took the picture of that screen rather than the speed dial screen...but oh well.

Makes you think!

Stumbled upon this video while perusing the MENC Band Forums. It was filmed live and features the Notre Dame Marching Band...talk about thinking out of the box!

Ok. The Skype challenge was definately more of a challenge for me just because I needed to find someone to use it with me. But low and behold....it is done. I am not sure how I could use this in band, but I know that it has been used at the college level to do applied lessons on instruments.
